Cherry Grove sits at the top of North Myrtle Beach, where the coast bends and the salt marsh runs in behind the houses. It has a pier, a channel full of small boats, and streets of beach houses that families have been coming back to for decades.
It is quieter than the strip to the south, and closer to the parts of the Grand Strand people actually plan their week around: the water, the fishing, the food, and the golf a short drive inland.
You are still minutes from everything North Myrtle Beach offers. You just do not have to live inside it.
A day here
Morning
Coffee on the balcony while the sun comes up out of the water, then a long walk on hard-packed sand before the beach fills in.
Midday
Chairs, umbrella, book. Somebody goes for ice. Somebody else falls asleep. The tide does its thing.
Afternoon
Out on the marsh side in a kayak, or up on the pier watching whatever the fishermen are pulling in.
Evening
Seafood somewhere close, a drive down to North Myrtle Beach if anybody feels like it, and the ocean going quiet after dark.
